Electral (Oral Rehydration Salts)
Until the seventies, dehydration in India was treated with IV fluids. This required patients suffering from dehydration to be hospitalized, which made treatment difficult, inaccessible and expensive, especially for people living in rural India.

In 1972, FDC introduced Oral Rehydration Salts under its brand name, Electral, which revolutionized the treatment of dehydration by using the oral route. In effect, the new delivery mechanism made treatment of dehydration much more convenient and economical. Since then Electral has been a life-savior, especially in rural areas where hospital facilities are scarce.

Today, FDC is the largest producer of ORS the world over. An achievement made possible by understanding local needs and meeting global healthcare challenges.

Soyal (Nutraceutical)
FDC put another first under its belt with Soyal - India's first soya-based protein supplement. Until 1984, lactose intolerant infants and adults simply had no alternative to milk protein. Identifying this gap, FDC developed and launched Soyal: an excellent substitute for protein obtained from milk. Thus, FDC became the first provider of a vital food for lactose intolerant infants.

Today, Soyal has evolved to Prosoyal, a market leader in the infant food segment in India. A product of its own kind, Prosoyal is also exported to many foreign markets.

Cotaryl (Moisturizer)
During the seventies, FDC pioneered the launch of a scientifically designed cold cream with Natural Moisturizing Factors (NMFs) for various dry skin conditions. For decades now, Cotaryl has been widely prescribed by dermatologists across the country, a feat now imitated by a number of OTC brands. Cotaryl continues to enjoy a respectable position in the prescription market.

Mycoderm (Dusting powder)
Over three decades ago, FDC was the first to offer a rational topical formulation designed to provide cool comfort during certain skin conditions caused by the tropical climate. Mycoderm - a popular brand amongst family physicians, is still a top-of-the-mind-recall product, an achievement that few OTC brands have been able to emulate.

Zifi (Anti-bacterial cefixime)
Zifi has always experienced phenomenal growth. Its first year turnover jumped over 10 times from Rs. 20 million to Rs. 250 million. Today, after just three years, Zifi's turnover has crossed Rs. 500 million. It is India's number 1 brand among anti-bacterial cefiximes.
